NEW BOSTON, Texas — Bowie County recorded 94 arrests in the week following the July 4th holiday, according to the Bowie County Sheriff's Office weekly report.
Of the 94 bookings into the Bowie County Jail, deputies made 44 arrests in Texarkana and the surrounding county, while another 50 were turned over to the county by other law enforcement agencies. Warrant service topped the week's activity, and deputies served all 12 civil papers assigned to them.
The week's charges ranged widely. Among the notable cases: an exploitation of an elderly individual charge out of the DeKalb area; a home burglary near Maud in which a laptop, a Browning .22-caliber firearm, a wallet, medication, and two cell phones were reported taken; a burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault and injury to a child on the Texarkana side; and several family-violence-related cases, including terroristic threats and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Deputies also stayed busy on transports, moving 226 people — including 214 to court appearances — over roughly 2,570 miles during the week.
The report was compiled by Bowie County Chief Deputy Robby McCarver and covers activity from July 5 through July 12. All individuals arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
