TEXARKANA, Ark. — The trial of a man charged with first-degree murder in the 2024 shooting death of a 17-year-old is scheduled to begin this week in Miller County.
Tyrese Dasean Jefferson, 19, of Texarkana, Arkansas, is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm in the death of Marious Bradley. His trial is set to begin Monday at the Miller County Courthouse, according to court documents. Circuit Judge Carlton Jones is presiding, and Jefferson is represented by attorney Rickey H. Hicks of Little Rock.
Bradley, 17, was shot to death Aug. 12, 2024, at Platinum Village Apartments in the 2500 block of East 24th Street. According to an arrest affidavit, a witness told detectives that he and Jefferson had gone to the complex to smoke cigars with Bradley, and that Bradley and Jefferson were sitting in the witness's car when the two began "tussling." The affidavit states Bradley got out and started to run away when Jefferson allegedly pointed a gun and fired several times, then left the scene in the witness's vehicle. Investigators say two nearby apartments and a vehicle window were struck by bullets, the basis for the three firearm-discharge counts.
Jefferson was 17 when he was arrested two days after the shooting and was later certified as an adult. A judge previously declined to transfer the case to juvenile court. The trial has faced several delays since 2025, including continuances tied to cell-phone evidence and a change in defense counsel.
Jefferson remains in the Miller County Detention Center. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
