Small Plane Diverts to Texarkana Regional; All Aboard Reported Safe

TEXARKANA, Ark. — A small aircraft that departed a Houston-area airport landed safely at Texarkana Regional Airport after diverting from its original route, and everyone aboard was reported to be uninjured.

The four-seat airplane had been in the air roughly two hours when it first diverted toward Nashville, Arkansas, according to publicly available flight-tracking data. The aircraft circled Howard County Airport once before continuing on to Texarkana, touching down at Texarkana Regional almost three hours after leaving the Houston area.

Texarkana, Arkansas fire and police units met the aircraft on the ground. No injuries were reported, and responding units returned to service a short time later.

The reason for the diversion has not been released. Aircraft divert for a wide range of reasons, including weather, mechanical concerns, fuel planning or a passenger feeling unwell, and a diversion does not by itself indicate an in-flight emergency was declared.

KTYT is not identifying the aircraft or those aboard. No one was hurt and no damage has been reported.
