ASHDOWN, Ark. — A woman who operated a business in Ashdown has been charged with second-degree sexual assault of a teenage boy over whom she was in a position of trust and authority, according to court records filed Wednesday.
Alexandra Elizabeth Vaught, 35, of Horatio, faces one count of second-degree sexual assault. A probable cause affidavit alleges Vaught engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor and that the teen was given alcohol before the alleged assaults, which the affidavit says occurred at a property at 192 Highway 71 south.
Vaught was released Tuesday on a $5,000 bond, court records show. The criminal case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Bryan Chesshir.
If convicted, Vaught faces five to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.
Separately, the owner of the Highway 71 property filed a civil complaint Wednesday seeking to evict Vaught. That filing cites criminal activity and unpaid rent and seeks a judgment of $10,000. The claims in the eviction complaint are allegations and have not been resolved in court.
Vaught has not entered a plea, and the charge against her is an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
KTYT does not identify victims of alleged sexual offenses, and is withholding details that could identify the teen in this case.
