TEXARKANA — It's official: the Texarkana Airshow will be back in 2028.
Organizers confirmed the return following recognition at a recent Texarkana, Texas City Council meeting, and say planning is already underway. Fans won't have to wait another three decades for the next one — the June 2026 show was the first in Texarkana in more than 30 years.
That comeback event proved there was an appetite for it. Roughly 10,000 to 11,000 spectators packed Texarkana Regional Airport on June 27, with more lining U.S. Highway 67 for a glimpse of the 18 aerial performances. Headlined by the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and featuring vintage military aircraft — including a B-25 bomber tied to the historic Doolittle raids — the show doubled as the Twin Cities' celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
Presented by Red River Credit Union, the airshow was a joint effort of Texarkana College, the airport, both cities, and more than 100 volunteers. Organizers say lessons learned this year, particularly around security and crowd logistics, will shape a smoother layout for 2028.
