TEXARKANA, Ark. — A routine call turned into a special one for three Texarkana Arkansas firefighters last week, when they helped a mother safely deliver her baby.
The Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department says firefighters Austin Wardlaw and Hayden Teer, along with Engineer Brett Suggs, assisted with the delivery while responding to a call for service Friday, July 10. Both mother and baby came through safely.
The moment carried an extra bit of meaning for two of the crew: Wardlaw and Teer are both scheduled to complete their EMT training later this month, and got to put those skills to work in the field before they'd even finished the course.
Sharing the news on social media, the department called it a welcome reminder of the rewarding moments that come with serving the community.
