Texarkana bank robber flees on bicycle — leaves with nothing.

Texarkana bank robber flees on bicycle — leaves with nothing.

A Texarkana man walked into a local bank Thursday afternoon with a plan to walk out rich. It didn't go that way.

Dalton Dean Radke, 33, strolled into the Guaranty Bank branch on West 7th Street around 2:30 in the afternoon, bellied up to the teller window, mentioned he was having a rough day, and slid a note across the counter. The note made clear this was a robbery and that he wanted the $10s and $20s — no dye packs, no alarms, no funny business.

What Radke apparently didn't know is that this particular bank doesn't keep cash sitting in drawers. The teller had to work through an automated system to get money dispensed, and Radke got impatient — telling her she was making too many clicks on her computer.

Before the machine could spit out a single bill, other customers walked through the front door and a bank employee emerged from the back. Radke made a decision — and it wasn't to wait around. He walked out, hopped on a bicycle, and pedaled north on Kings Highway.

A Texarkana Texas Police Department officer tracked him down a short time later. Bank surveillance footage identified him, and the robbery note turned up on the ground just north of 7th Street.

Radke is sitting in Bowie County jail tonight on $250,000 bail. His case lands in the court of 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison. If convicted, he's looking at two to twenty years in prison.
