JUVENILE ARRESTED IN ARMED ROBBERY AT WEST 38TH STREET CONVENIENCE STORE

TEXARKANA, Texas — A 15-year-old has been arrested on an aggravated robbery charge in connection with an armed holdup at a Texarkana convenience store last week, police say.

The robbery happened just before midnight Thursday at a convenience store in the 200 block of West 38th Street, according to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.

Police say the suspect walked into the store dressed in all black and wearing a black mask, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, then ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Patrol officers responded quickly and searched the surrounding area but did not find the suspect that night. Detectives continued working the case, identified a suspect and made the arrest.

"Great work by everyone involved," the department said in announcing the arrest, crediting both the officers who responded that night and the detectives who developed the case.

The teenager is not being identified because of his age. Police have not released information about the clerk, who was not reported injured.

An arrest is not a conviction. In Texas, a person under 17 accused of an offense is handled in the juvenile justice system, where the case proceeds as a petition alleging delinquent conduct rather than as an adult criminal charge, unless prosecutors seek to certify the juvenile to stand trial as an adult. Juvenile court records are generally confidential.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers anonymously at 903-793-STOP.
