TEXARKANA, Texas — Texas High School has resumed normal operations after officials determined an anonymous phone call reporting a potential threat was not credible.
Texarkana Independent School District said law enforcement officers searched the campus and surrounding property before giving the district the all clear. The investigation was conducted by the Texarkana Texas Police Department along with the TISD Police Department.
As a precaution, the district said additional officers would remain on campus for the remainder of the day to provide reassurance to students, staff and families.
District officials said all threats are taken seriously, and warned that anyone responsible for making a false threat could face criminal charges.
Under Texas law, making a false report of an emergency or a threat involving a school can result in criminal charges, including felony charges depending on the circumstances.
Threats against schools can be reported through the Texas Department of Public Safety's iWatchTexas program, available by phone, online or through a mobile app, or directly to local law enforcement.
Families are encouraged to rely on official communications from the district and law enforcement rather than unverified accounts circulating on social media.
